 FAQs

  • Onsite antigen rapid tests make it easy to test for COVID-19, with results in 15 mins. The test is a simple nasal swab and does not need a laboratory to process as it’s all able to be performed in the safety of your home. The test detects proteins on the wall of the virus. Other tests detect genetic material of the virus or immune response to the presence of the virus.

  • If everyone could be tested frequently and stayed home when they were contagious, we might be able to consistently reopen schools and work and avoid lockdowns as cases would spend less time in the community.

  • A person can go from not being infectious to being very infectious in about 2 days and still have no symptoms. The concern is people who have no symptoms don’t usually get tested. If you test more frequently at home or at your workplace you are much likelier to detect that you are infectious.

  • The evidence suggests that the rapid antigen tests work just as well on the new variants and Onsite ® has performed a study on Omicron which is available via our site.

  • The Onsite test is very accurate in detecting COVID-19. If a person has high levels of virus at the time of the test, the test will be positive.

  • The test takes about 20 minutes in total, usually only a few minutes to collect the specimen and then 15 minutes to read the result.

  • A simple nasal swab, inserted only 3cm in each nostril and rotated 2-3 times.

  • You will need to return home and ensure that you get a confirmatory PCR test for COVID-19. The PCR test is required to confirm a positive result. Always follow Public Health advice in your State or Territory.

  • Yes, the Onsite antigen rapid test forms part of your COVID-19 safety plan and supports all the other layers of defence against COVID-19. Masks, social distancing where possible and regular hand hygiene work together to keep you and the community COVID-19 free.
